Message Unit 1 - an example of patriotized history

The US troops who went to Iraq were not fighting for freedom.

They were fighting for tyranny in Iraq. The US imposed its own rule on the Iraqis, and killed any Iraqis who dared to resist. The US decided which Iraqis lived and which Iraqis were to be killed, but the US could not be unelected by the Iraqis.

They were not fighting for freedom in the US, because Iraq had not been trying to take the freedom of US citizens.

The US soldier who was killed in Iraq was fighting for freedom.
