Definition of
act creation (non-US)
An action is present in the
patriotic message, but did not happen in
reality. The actor that the
patriotic message
identifies as carrying out the action was not the US government or one of its follower states.
Actions by non-US actors are created in
patriotic messages
in ways that bring
reality
into line with the
core myths. So, for example,
US targets are portrayed as doing undemocratic, atrocious, aggressive, or illegal things;
these acts make US attacks on these people seem to be democratic, humanitarian, defensive, or legal, when in
reality
they were not.
