Iran Unpatriotized History

In 1951 the Iranian parliament decided to nationalize the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. In 1953 the USG (and Britain) overthrew the elected government of Prime Minister Mossadeq and consolidated power in the hands of the Shah, who ruled the country as a police state from then until his regime was overthrown in a revolution in 1979. The Shah's secret police, SAVAK, ran the world' most brutal terror state, with extensive US backing.
